This past Friday, Q and I were able to finally go on our first date night since having Gummy (that's 3 months and 3 days to be exact!). It was SOOOOO nice. So nice. We love our sweet babies but at some point, parent's need a break! So, now that Gummy goes to bed at 6pm like Peach, my awesome bro Matthew came over to keep an ear out for the kids. So off we went!
In the car we listened to grown up music and didn't talk over-top of crying and screaming (Peach voices her HATRED for car rides of any length...and basically anything that requires her to stay still!).
It was nothing short of refreshing.
And, we held hands uninterrupted as I did not have to constantly keep reaching back to hand Peach her snacks and toys or check on Gummy.
Equally refreshing.
We went to eat at someplace that does not include Dollar Menu or chicken nuggets.
You can imagine how refreshing THAT was!
We ate at a yummy restaurant called El Tio. It was soooooo great.
Somewhere in between the chips and salsa and laughing together I just felt so in love with my hubby. I know, it's cheesey. Don't judge me! We had been needing a break and something so simple as going out to eat together did the trick.
Sometimes we get so caught up in all the things we have to do and the 2 little sweeties that need to be tended to, that we forget where this family even started...with just the 2 of us. Even though I love him, sometimes I forget why. It occurred to me during dinner that I forgot how funny he is and how sweet he can be. It really is the little things that have made this crazy life fun and bearable. I love you, babe!
Anyhoo, we drove up to the movie theater to see a movie that started at 10pm. We had about an hour to walk around and window-shop before the movie. But, by the time 10pm rolled around, we decided that instead of paying $20 to see a movie, why don't we go rent one from Redbox for $1 and snuggle up on the couch at home? We did exactly that. Yes, we are defintely becoming an "old married couple" :)
