Waiting....

These past couple of weeks have hardly been tolerable waiting for the birth of our little boy. I think I've been jinxed since the day my doctor said "Oh, he will for sure be born by November 24th. I mean, I'd be shocked to see you at your next check-up appointment." So, he scheduled my next appointment for Monday the 24th, all the while chuckling that it was a little silly to even make the appointment BECAUSE I SHOULD SURELY HAVE THE BABY BY THEN!!!!! Oh my gosh. So, I waddled out of the office, pleased to hear that this pregnancy was about to be over...I mean I honestly feel like I'm carrying a watermelon between my legs! I'm over this!!!!
So, Monday rolls around and I get dressed and head off to the doctor. Again with the annoying commentary, "Oh, wow. I can't believe you're here. Well, let's go ahead and do the exam." So he proceeds to check me out and hello, I'm 4 centimeters dilated....the exact same measurement as last week. Quiriam looks confused, Peach just wants to play with the blood pressure thingy, and I say, "What do you mean everything's the same? Is my body going into reverse or something? You said I would have him by today! YOU WERE SO SURE, SO I WAS SO SURE!!"
And the good doctor said, "Well, you're not going in reverse, you're just stuck." And then he said that mother of all annoying pregnancy lines, "All you can do is wait." As if I didn't know that. As if that's not EXACTLY what I've been doing this whole time!
So, driving back home I lost it. I mean really. Just crying over this whole ordeal...honestly my hormones and emotions are so flippin' nuts right now I can't even control myself sometimes. Sorry, Q-ball and Peach.
Anywho, life quickly moved on and here are some of the things we've been doing:
Quiriam and I went to the Oakton Stake Center to see the broadcast of the Mexico City Temple re-dedication. It was beautiful. My translation headset didn't work, but I followed pretty well with my broken "spanglish" and Q whispering the rest. I have never gone to anything like it and I'm so glad we were able to go.

Peach and I have been doing some shopping and here are some things we did to keep her entertained (her idea of being entertained is to tear down everything off the shelves. What a Peach!) I put these fun little duck slippers on her. She totally got a kick out of that because ducks (or "Duh-Duh" as she puts it) are her favorite!
Also, putting random things in her seat until she can barely move her arms seems to do the trick!
She figured out two strangely significant things this past week. The first is that while you can put Cheerios and other random objects down the vent, inevitably air will come out...and will mess up your hair-do if your face is close by. The second is the phenomenon of fuzz. She's figured out belly buttom fuzz, but holy cow, she's pretty amazed that fuzz can find its way in between her tiny toes. It's ok Peach, it happens to all of us.
My brothers and I decided to decorate our parent's house for Christmas this year as a surprise for my mom. Here is Mark so modestly showing off whatever he thinks he has beneath his sleeve! Ha ha :)
The finished tree after I went to town decorating...so stress relieving :)
Also, I don't have pics of these things but they are certainly noteworthy. First, my wonderful mom and her friend put together a fun baby shower for little Gummy. Thank you, mom. You really are such a great support to me, especially now when life feels crazier than ever :)
Also, our ward finished a great humanitarian project and I am so glad it was a success. It was lots of hard work to put together but I think it went awesome and I'm excited to be involved with other similar projects soon :)
Ok, I've babbled long enough...let's hope the next time you check in with us I will be posting pics of our newborn! Until then, I'll just be waiting...

It sounds like life is moving along so fast and full for you guys, and I'm so glad to be able to read about everything on your blog!
